After TSA announced that it was going to allow a folding knife on airlines again, albeit under very strict specifications, the spydercrew took to the drawing board. The result was the Roadie slipit. Although TSA’s proposal has been cancelled by now, Spyderco is still pursuing this prototype.
The knife features two round divots on the blade to open the knife. The Roadie is a small and slim slipit, but it seemed quite controllable and useful as a little folder to take care of most EDC chores you’d encounter during (air)travel.
The approximate specifications of the Roadie are:
Overall Length: 13 cm / 5.19 inches
Edge Length: 4,3 cm / 1.70 inches
Blade Length: 5,5 cm / 2.17 inches
Blade Thickness: 0,2 cm / 0.08 inches

Hello, you know when is the release date of the roadie?
I’m sorry, I don’t know. Spyderco never gives out hard release dates though.
Just picked one up tonight. Can’t wait to see it/carry it. I love my old original lockback Kiwi. About the same size.
Have had the Roadie for almost a week running it through whatever I could find in that time. For my day-to-day tasks, mostly envelopes, cardboard, and packages, it performed flawlessly. Never worried about accidental closing as this lockup is something I haven’t felt in some other slip-it designs. Love the knife & am looking forward to the colors ! Thanks again, and again Spyderco !
Thank you for that mini-review!
